讀詩

高中時,蠻喜歡讀詩的,應該說,蠻喜歡中國文學的。我想,這都要歸功於我們的國文導師,是他讓我們這一整班理工組的男生喜歡上國文課,喜歡從一篇篇的文學作品中,去體味風景、人生、政治、歷史,和許許多多的無常和際遇。

至於英文詩,可能因為我英文底子不好的關係,唸起來總是有唸新詩的感覺,抓不住那韻味,抓不住那感覺。所以,總是提不起勁。

但是今天,Robert Frost 的這一首 The Road Not Taken 卻讓我心有戚戚焉,彷彿重回當年那一首首詩詞流過心頭時的感動。

也許,是現時的心境正好共鳴吧。

THE ROAD NOT TAKEN
Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both.

And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could.

To where it bent in the undergrowth;
Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;

Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,
And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.

Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.
I shall be telling this with a sigh

Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I-
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.
